Domain: this is your website's address. For example, choosing mypets will make your address mypets.webweka.com
Keywords: These help you get found on Google. You can enter as many as you like, but try to be as specific as possible.
Step 2: Choosing a template
To get started quickly, just click on any one of the ready-made templates. This list is growing all the time!
If you want to start from scratch, just click on the Blank template.
Step 3: Making your page
Make your page by adding text, photos and YouTube videos. Each of these can be added by clicking the icons:
Add a YouTube video. If you can find it on YouTube, you can put it on your page!
Add a photo. You can upload any image from your computer, or even directly from your digital camera!
Add a text box. You can change the font, size and colour of your text, as well as adding a border and background colour. If you've used Word, you can use this!
Working with text
Click on the pencil icon to bring up the text editor
If you've used Word, the buttons here should be familiar.
When you've got your text looking how you want it, click on the save button.
Don't be afraid to experiment with colours, fonts, borders and backgrounds -- you can change a text box as many times as you like!
To insert a link to another website, highlight your text and click the link button
Enter the address of the website you want to link to, eg:
http://www.wikipedia.org
and click the insert button.
Working with photos
Click on the pencil icon to bring up the image uploader
When you click the upload a file button, you will be prompted to find the file on your computer.
Select the file, click open, and it will automatically begin uploading.
The percentage indicator gives you some idea of how long your photo will take to upload. The speed will depend on the size of your photo and the speed of your internet connection.
When it reaches 100%, don't be surprised if there is a pause for another few seconds. Once your photo has uploaded, WebWeka still needs a moment to save it!
Working with videos
Click on the pencil icon to enter the video embed code
What is 'embed code'?
You can find it on YouTube, and it looks a bit like this:
<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/1_t44siFyb4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Gibberish to you and me, but it tells your webpage where to find the video!
Go to youtube.com, find a video and click the Share button. Then click the Embed button.
Just copy the embed code, go back to WebWeka and paste it in. Simple!
Once you're signed up, any of these things can be changed instantly... even the domain name!
YouTube sometimes change the way this works, but you are always looking for the embed code
Click the pencil to make changes
Click the cross to delete
Click anywhere and drag to move
Click near the edge and drag to resize
The following tools are always the same, whether you're working with text, photos or videos!
A quick word about overlapping...
1: At some point you might want things to overlap. In this case, the text ought to be right at the front.
2: On the text box, click the up arrow to bring it forward. Now it is in front of the photo, but still behind the video.
3: Click the up arrow on the text box to bring it forward again. Need more help? Try this
